Combining media allows an artist to work "outside the box" or outside one's mind and find new ways to visually explore the world.

I like to draw and paint in water media over abstract monotypes. Monotypes are the print print process that most closely resembles painting because each print is original
resulting from paint applied directly to a plexiglass surface to transfer to damp paper leaving only a ghost of an image behind on the glass.

When I am out painting in nature while hiking or backpacking, I prefer to draw with colored pencils and intensify the colors with watercolors or gouache.
