The Figurative Works of Deborah Uhl

For my first ten years of painting, I primarily painted women.

I desired to create a deeper image of women than what is portrayed in the media.
I brought their emotions to the forefront.

These women are not objects to look at,
but fully empowered individuals in charge of themselves and their destinies.

My earliest works were entirely in black and white,
and then I transitioned into color.

The paintings were generally painted on stretched canvas,
and they are fairly large in scale
with three feet in the smaller dimension.

Most of these sold after only one showing.
