This Flagstaff Jeffery Pine stood like an enduring monument along a trail I used to hike along with my dog Pawley.

I continue to be mesmerized by the vibrancy of the wood and the bark long after it has given up its will to live.

As the wood beneath the bark reveals itself, its character seems to come out as well in its rawness and simplicity.
