A Sampling of Wall Painting Projects
Mural creation and preservation are my specialties.
The murals in America generally stem from the Depression Era forward.
Wall paintings that are nearly centurions are found in post offices, government buildings, churches, and theaters throughout the country.
Outdoor murals like the underpass above are generally less than fifty years old and require more maintanence to keep them preserved.
Murals, like smaller paintings, require conservation treatment for structural stabilization
and to protect both the surface and the substrate from environmental stresses.
Professional treatment includes complete written and photo documentation of its current condition before and after treatment .
A mural is then cleaned
and the varnish and overpaint is removed to reveal the original painted surface.
Structural stabilization is performed locally or overall.
A stable synthetic varnish is then applied overall and paint losses are then touched up on top of this reversible varnish layer.
