In Her Own Words
Art is truly a visual experience and I cannot hope to do justice to my work through words. The spark for each piece begins within my heart and my mind, and from there I converse with the paint, letting it take me in unintended directions. The sparks are a combination of personal experiences, artistic and historic analyses, and a romantic aesthetic. I hone in on the beauty of the natural world and draw on the interconnectedness of all things.
My work contains an emotional energy inspired by Caravaggio, turn-of-the-century European artists, and twentieth century artists Andrwe Wyeth, Salvador Dali, and Georgia O'Keeffe.
I hope you can enter into a dialogue with them as I have through making them. I would be interested to hear if this work brings you inspiration. Opening our eyes a little bit more is, after all, what art is all about. It is all about noticing the little things in life and celebrating the present moment because it is only here for a second and then gone! |
